Manchester United fans who follow transfer rumours collectively rolled their eyes when, on Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport did their best to relaunch the Ivan Perisic rumour. Claiming Atletico Madrid are also keen, and a January move not ruled out, the Italian newspaper said both clubs had made initial contact over a potential move.Things were in the early stages, and no offers had been made, but Gazzetta insisted the interest had something concrete behind it.It wasn’t going to be left there, even though it should have been.TMW now say that Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are showing the player ‘great attention’… but they can’t have him this month.Perisic is talked up to be a level he isn’t, and more crucial than he actually is this season, and it’s claimed that €40m is ‘too little’ to see him go this month. That’s probably not going to be too devastating news for the transfer chiefs at Old Trafford.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. Today is the decisive day for the Premier League, in which all questions will fall. The last round of the strongest championship in the world will give us extremely interesting battles. All matches will start at the same time – 18:00.The champion is clear – Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League after a 30-year break, while Manchester City was concreted in second place. Hence the interesting thing in today’s last round in England – the Battle for the Top 4 and a place in the Champions League.ACCOUNTS:The battle for the Top 4: Chelsea will qualify for the most commercial European tournament if they win or draw against Wolverhampton at Stamford Bridge. The Londoners could finish in the top four, but only if Manchester United beat Leicester. In this way, the “foxes” will play in the Europa League. In a scenario in which King Power draws, the Red Devils will qualify for the Champions League and Leicester will hope to lose to Chelsea. There is also an option for the “foxes” to win against Manchester United and then the alumni of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will pray for the Londoners to lose to the “wolves”.🙌 @ManUtd are unbeaten in their last 🔟 #PL matches 🆚 Leicester (W7 D3) #LEIMUN pic.twitter.com/jgNYWjaT90— Premier League (@premierleague) July 26, 2020The battle for the Europa League is also intriguing: One thing is clear – one of Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester will remain in fifth place. In theory, Wolverhampton could also end up in that position, but the Wolves must defeat Stamford Bridge. Tottenham is in seventh place and currently the “spurs” are in the Europa League. Jose Mourinho and company will hope that Chelsea will beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final, otherwise the “balls” will qualify for the second strongest tournament in Europe, and the seventh position will not give way to participate in European tournaments. But if Tottenham win against Crystal Palace today and the Wolves lose their visit to Chelsea, the Spurs will settle in sixth place.Raul Jimenez’s 1️⃣7️⃣ #PL goals this season have been worth 1️⃣9️⃣ points to @Wolves, more than any other player in the competition 🐺#CHEWOL pic.twitter.com/ycTN8U4Ozh— Premier League (@premierleague) July 26, 2020The battle for survival will offer drama to the last: Norwich is now a new member of the Championship, but the other two positions are still vacant. In fierce clashes, some of Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Watford will escape and retain their place in the Premier League. For the “cherries” there is only one option victory over Everton and losses to Watford and Aston Villa from Arsenal and West Ham. For Birmingham, there is an option to remain in the Premier League in case of loss, if the “hornets” also allow defeat with an identical result. For its part, Watford will hope to lose to Aston Villa and win by at least two goals against Arsenal.⚽️⚽️⚽️ Trezeguet has scored 3️⃣ goals for @AVFCOfficial in his last 3️⃣ #PL matches 💪#WHUAVL pic.twitter.com/POjkHSMOXg— Premier League (@premierleague) July 26, 2020This is coming today, a real spectacle with the Premier League brand! It’s a little different than a lot of guys. And can you believe the power he’s getting from that? I mean, it’s unbelievable.“I, for one, I want to watch him play a little bit,” Nicklaus added. “I’d like to see what he does and how he’s actually doing that because he’s obviously doing something right. The ball is going a long way. And he’s playing well with it.”DeChambeau faces a stacked field at the Memorial — nine of the top 10 in the world, 43 out of the top 50 — while coming off a victory two weeks ago when he pummeled Detroit Golf Club with his driver. He has seven straight top-10 finishes dating to March, before COVID-19 shut down the tour. Since its return, DeChambeau has hit 29 tee shots at 350 yards or longer.Woods is 44 and still has plenty of pop.“There was a couple holes he hit 320, 325,” said DeChambeau, 26. “I’m like, ‘That’s pretty good for his age.'”Wednesday wasn’t the first time they have practiced together. Woods is intrigued by a different way of playing, which is why a generation ago he used to practice early with Bubba Watson to see not just his length but the shape in his shots. DeChambeau brings an element of physics to his approach, such as air density and ground force.A year ago, they were playing together in the Memorial when DeChambeau was given a bad time for taking too long over a shot. He was furious, and later claimed the PGA Tour was going about it the wrong way. He said it should take into account how fast a player walks to the ball. How quickly the conversation has changed. Now it’s not about slow play as much as it is muscle mass, a ball speed approaching 200 mph and whether this is the way everyone should play.Dustin Johnson, who won the last time he played at the Travelers Championship, has ample power. Asked what would happen if he swung as hard as DeChambeau, he replied: “I’d probably hurt something. And I would find half of them.”He’s not about to change.“I hit it far enough,” Johnson said. “And until I feel like I need to hit it further to compete or beat these guys, then that’s what I’ll do. But for right now, I feel like if I’m playing my game, he can hit it as far as he wants to, and I don’t think he’s going to beat me.”Woods has always been about power, and so much more. It’s why he has won 82 times on the PGA Tour and has a chance at the Memorial — where he has won five times — to break the career victory record he shares with Sam Snead. When he started, Woods and Daly were the biggest hitters. Technology has changed all that, starting with launch monitors that have led to sonar devices that allow players to optimize everything. What amazed Woods was not so much the distance but the accuracy that goes with it.“Let’s look at the fact that he’s hitting it as straight as he is,” Woods said. “That’s part of the most difficult thing to do. The further you hit it, the more the tangent goes more crooked. So the fact that he’s figured that out and has been able to rein in the foul balls to me has been equally as impressive as his gains off the tee.”The next question is whether that will work at Muirfield Village, which figures to be the toughest test since golf resumed at shorter courses with minimal rough and softer greens. This is the second straight tournament at the course Nicklaus built. Greens are being replaced after this week, so there’s no fear of getting them super slick to the point of dying. The rough is thicker. There are more hazards.DeChambeau believes other players will figure out his equation soon enough — swinging it hard, hitting it straight. He still thinks future generations will copy his single-length shafts (each the length of a 7-iron) that he brought to the PGA Tour.Rory McIlroy, who played with DeChambeau in the final round at Colonial, isn’t about to devour protein shakes and put on 40 pounds of mass. But with no pun intended, he said of DeChambeau, “More power to him.”“He’s making golf interesting, and he’s certainly getting people to talk about him,” McIlroy said. “He’s won already, and he’s played some good events and been in contention, so it’s working for him.”Image credits: AP First Published: 16th July, 2020 07:30 IST
